Eileen Chong, poet

Eileen Chong is a Sydney poet. She lived in Singapore before moving permanently to Australia in 2007. She took a Master in Letters at Sydney University in 2010 and has been mentored by the poets Judith Beveridge and Anthony Lawrence.

She won the Poets Union Youth Fellowship in 2010 and was the Australian Poetry Fellow for 2011-2012. Her first book, Burning Rice, was highly commended in both the Anne Elder Award 2012 and the Australian Arts in Asia Award 2013. Burning Rice was also shortlisted for the Australian Prime Minister’s Literary Awards 2013.
